The optional mounting bracket allows you the convenience of choosing from three options for your TV placement: 1) The flat panel TV can be set on the top shelf of the stand. 2) The flat panel TV can be mounted directly to the mounting bracket, which is attached to the TV Stand. or 3) The Mount can be used to place the TV directly to the wall above the TV Stand.
